From Challenges to Celebrations: Lulu, Littles, and Our 11/8 Event

This month has brought both challenges and victories for our little rescue. Our newest intake, Lulu, a sweet German Shepherd, sadly ended up in boarding after her foster placement didn’t work out. Until we can find her a stable home environment, our ability to take in other large-breed dogs is on pause — a tough reality for a foster-based rescue like ours.

Even so, our team and community rallied, and we were still able to step up for two smaller dogs in urgent need, giving them a second chance at life. We’ve also had some heartwarming adoption success stories that remind us why we do what we do: each happy tail fuels our mission forward.

Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to be preparing for our biggest event of the year — Pints for Pups on *November 8th at Culture Brewing! It’s shaping up to be a night of fun, community, and lifesaving impact, and we can’t wait to see you there

ADOPTABLE DOG OF THE MONTH: JEWEL

Age: 8 months old | Weight: 40 lbs

Breed: Vizsla / Pit Bull mix | Status: #AdoptMe

Meet Jewel, our 8-month-old Vizsla-mix puppy who truly lives up to her name. ✨

Jewel is spayed, vaccinated, and ready to join her forever family. She’s an absolute lovebug—gentle, respectful, and eager to please. This smart girl has already shown how quick she is to learn and how much joy she brings to everyone around her.

What makes Jewel extra special is her versatility: she’s amazing with kids, dogs, and even cats. She’s already house and crate trained. Whether she’s playing, snuggling, or simply hanging out, she radiates sweetness and charm.

If you’ve been searching for a loyal companion with the perfect mix of brains and heart, Jewel is the gem you don’t want to miss. 💎

EMERGENCY PAWS — FOSTER URGENTLY NEEDED

This month, our rescue finds itself in an unexpected pause. While our hearts are always ready to step in for the dogs on shelter euthanasia lists, we cannot responsibly bring in another large dog until Lulu — an 8-year-old German Shepherd — is out of boarding.

Lulu is a smart, resilient dog who has already been through so much. The shelter environment took its toll on her, and she was not able to stay with her original foster family.  She escaped death row just to end right back in the kennels, and this is not the life she deserves.

Lulu urgently needs a foster who can continue her training and provide consistency. For Lulu to thrive, we’re looking for a shepherd experienced household and children 12+. Ideally, we would like to keep her in San Diego or San Bernardino to be closer to our trainers.

Click here to watch her story.

If you or someone you know can open their home to Lulu, please have them send in a foster application at homeboundhounds.org/foster 💙🐾
