The Hard Truth About Rescuing
As we head into May, we want to share a transparent look at where things stand and how we’re evolving. Like many rescues, we’re feeling the impact of limited bandwidth across our team. We’re currently missing several key roles — including a foster coordinator, event leads, and, most importantly, fosters — which makes it challenging to sustainably support the level of intake we strive for.
Rather than trying to force a structure that isn’t set up to succeed, we’re choosing to be intentional with our resources. This month, that meant redirecting some of our available funds to support rescue efforts in underserved communities. Through a partnership with Perris Strays, we were able to help get six dogs spayed/neutered — a meaningful step toward reducing overpopulation and improving long-term outcomes.
We’re proud of the impact we can make when we stay flexible, but the reality is: we can’t do this work without more hands on deck. If you’ve been thinking about getting involved, now is the time. Whether it’s fostering, helping coordinate efforts behind the scenes, or supporting events, there’s a place for you here. Adoptable of the Month: TOMMY 🌟
Tommy is just one year old and 70lbs. He is a happy, goofy, and kind Anatolian Shepherd pup who found himself at the overcrowded shelter in Downey, where he was euth-listed due to space and his size.
But his story didn’t end there, thanks to his amazing foster mama.
Tommy is everything you’d hope for in a young dog: happy, gentle, and full of life. He’s already neutered and house-trained, and he gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes and even cats. He is great on leash and has done amazingly at our adoption events, which can get a little rowdy. He truly just wants to be part of the action — whether that’s playtime with furry friends or hanging out with his people.
Now all he needs is the one thing a shelter could never give him: a forever family.
Tommy has already been given a second chance at life. Let’s find him the home he’s been waiting for. 💙

🚨Emergency Paws - SD Foster Needed by 5/15🚨
We have an amazing pup looking for a stable landing spot.
Xena is 1yo, 60lbs, and will need a foster starting mid-May as her current foster’s schedule becomes hectic and we need help getting Xena to our adoption events. She is SO sweet and loves people and dogs, so she’ll do well as long as you love her back. Xena is house and crate trained, great with kids and dogs, and has great manners!
All food and supplies are provided
