Welcome to the Homebound Hounds June 2026 Newsletter!

Help Us Unlock a $5,000 Donation Match for Rescue Dogs

We’re excited to share that Homebound Hounds has received a generous $5,000 donation match opportunity through the end of June — meaning every dollar donated can go twice as far in helping us save dogs from unnecessary euthanasia at overcrowded Southern California shelters.

If you’ve ever fostered, adopted, donated, volunteered, or cheered on one of our dogs, we’d love your help spreading the word. You can donate directly, share the fundraiser with friends and family, or even start your own mini fundraiser to rally your community on behalf of rescue dogs.

Adoptable of the Month: Lobo🌟

Age: 1 year old | Weight: 50 lbs

Breed: Cattle Dog Mix (12% Golden Retriever) | Status: #AdoptMe

Lobo is a happy, goofy, and lively Cattle Dog Mix who found himself on Downey Death Row.

If you’re looking for a dog who’s equal parts adventure buddy, social butterfly, and loyal best friend — Lobo may just be your guy. This handsome 1-year-old pup is full of life, loves other dogs, adores kids, and brings joy everywhere he goes. Whether he’s running zoomies with his dog friends or cuddling up after a long day, Lobo has the kind of personality that makes people fall in love instantly.

Lobo would thrive with a confident, alpha-energy human who can continue giving him structure, guidance, and outlets for his playful energy. He’s smart, affectionate, and eager to be part of an active family that will help him continue becoming the amazing dog we know he is.

This month, we’re offering a $200 referral fee if you help us find Lobo’s forever home! If you refer an eligible adopter who is found to be a good fit through our adoption process — including application, interview, background check, virtual home check — you’ll receive $200 cash as our thank you for helping change their lives (this can be applied to his adoption fee of $350).

Behind Every Saved Dog Is a Dedicated Team

In May, a few of our Homebound Hounds teammates came together for a meet-up — a chance to connect, reflect on everything we’ve accomplished so far this year, and plan for the many dogs still counting on us in the months ahead. What started as a small grassroots rescue has grown into an incredible community of passionate, hardworking volunteers across San Diego, Los Angeles, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington and even Canada.

As we continue to grow, we’re actively looking for more team members who want to make a difference behind the scenes. Because we are entirely volunteer-based, every skill set helps save lives. We especially need support with admin tasks, volunteer coordination, medical guidance, and foster coordination.

You do not need to be local to get involved — just compassionate, reliable, and ready to help dogs in need. Apply to volunteer here:

Help Us Raise the Ruff

As many of you know, rescue doesn’t stop once a dog leaves the shelter. Many of our pups need extra medical care, professional training, boarding, or simply more time before they’re ready for adoption — and those costs add up quickly. This month, we’re working to unlock a $5,000 fundraising match to help us continue saying “yes” to dogs who need us most.

If you’ve ever fostered, adopted, donated toward, or loved one of our dogs, we’d love for you to start a small fundraiser in their honor — or in memory of a beloved pup who has passed. Our average goal is just $200 per person, and together, those small campaigns make a huge impact.

Getting started takes about 3 minutes:

Click “Fundraise” → “Solo Campaign,” set a goal, and share your dog’s story with family, friends, coworkers, and social media.

More Adoptables
