"March is the month of "Luck" and we are very lucky to have had the support of the PetPardon Platform. Therefore, we are honored to showcase the story behind this innovative solution and demonstrate how it is changing the dog rescue game." Jessica from Homebound Hounds
Pet Pardon was created after Founder and CEO, Sheryl Joyce, discovered an existing ecosystem of animal advocates coming together to save euthanasia-listed shelter pets. Tirelessly sharing videos, scrambling to attract fosters and rescues. As well as trying to track down pledges - often with only a few days to come up with a plan, sometimes even hours.
She started out as a networker. But soon evolved into a pledger. But after frustration with tracking down the status of dogs to pay her pledges. She created the Pet Pardon App: https://app.pet-pardon.com/
Shelters are in infinite crisis mode – continually need to make room for constant influx of animals, many are terminated for space. In an effort to avoid this sad outcome, animal advocates use social networks to get the animal adopted or saved by a rescue organization. However, there is a low success rate as it is impossible to track the conversations about a specific animal over multiple social networks.
In response to this, she created the Pet Pardon App; a platform where animal advocates can pledge. As well as share, express interest in adopting and fostering - all of which are necessary to help a rescue save a dog. She is also using Pet Pardon to raise awareness and educate people of the dire situation in shelters. By writing articles and sharing stories on other platforms such as LinkedIn.
Sheryl and her team have amassed a large and growing following on social media - mainly on Instagram. Where, they share hundreds of shelter animals a month.
The goal is to attract an adopter or foster. But in a lot of the cases, dogs (and cats) are being labeled ‘rescue only’, which means that due to a ‘behavioral’ or ‘medical’ issues they aren’t available to be adopted by someone in the general public. Instead, they must leave under the care of an approved 501c3 rescue organization.
Every dog shared on Instagram. Gets listed on the Pet Pardon app. When a dog is rescued, anyone that has pledged for that dog, gets notified by email where to honor their pledge once the dog has been confirmed safe with a reputable rescue.
Sheryl and her team also connect any foster or adoption interest with rescues and other advocates, such as volunteers.
Pet Pardon has been an active networking page for several years now. The platform is growing and Sheryl is looking for anyone interested in collaborating. Here’s a few ways you can join forces:
SHARE: share Pet Pardon’s posts with your network.
TAG: tag or send posts that you want Pet Pardon to share on their social media and list on the App.
ADD DOGS: if there is a dog you want to help. Adding them to the Pet Pardon App helps Sheryl and her team. As the more dogs that are on there, the more that can be helped.
STATUS UPDATES: if you see a dog has been rescued or adopted. Please let Sheryl and her team know. This is very helpful. As they strive to keep posts updated to keep people informed and avoid sharing a dog that is no longer in need.
If you’re a rescue that has saved a dog that Pet Pardon shared. Please let them know by email: info@pet-pardon.com or send them a DM through Instagram. You will need to send them a link to the freedom post and/or pictures. Along with your payment information. The team will then follow up on pledges on your behalf. They will then dm you to confirm they’ve followed up and the final pledge tally.
Please note, Pet Pardon is a FREE and SECURE platform. The App tracks pledges only. There is no cost to use it. But rescues have to be in good standing.
Any other questions, please feel free to contact Sheryl or her team at: info@pet-pardon.com
