Pup Profile is a woman and veteran-run 501(c)(3) nonprofit operating out of San Diego,
CA. Their online platform, pupprofile.org, was launched in October 2024 and is a one-
stop-shop for anyone seeking to support shelter dogs and rescue pups. Pup Profile
came to be when the Founder decided to channel her time and resources into addressing the animal welfare crisis in Southern California shelters during her MBA
program at UC San Diego. A talented team of like-minded dog lovers came together to
bring the nonprofit venture, now known as Pup Profile, to life.
So, how does it work? Pup Profile partners with rescues and networkers throughout
Southern California to help them promote their pups to fosters, adopters, and donors.
Networkers can collect foster applications for shelter dogs they're trying to save, and rescues can link Amazon and Chewy wish lists to the profiles of the dogs in their care. Potential adopters are directed to either the shelter with the address and contact info provided, or to the rescue's website.
Pupprofile.org includes a Resources page with both extensive foster guides and one-
page quick guides to help support new fosters and adopters. Rescues and networkers
have additional resources available via a toolkit on their Community Partner Dashboard, including a shelter directory, a collection of rescue-friendly vets throughout Southern California, and other helpful content.
Pup Profile works with a professional marketing team to leverage the Google for
Nonprofits Ad grant to run paid Google advertising for the pups on their site that could use some extra attention. This marketing channel boosts visibility beyond the reach of social media and individual websites, giving dogs more chances to be found by their forever families, at no cost to rescuers.
Pup Profile also raises funds for 501(c)(3) rescues that save at-risk dogs from shelters
through The Pups Fund. To date, 6 rescue organizations (including Homebound
Hounds), 7 dogs and a litter of puppies have benefitted from The Pups Fund. Every
dollar of every donation to The Pups Fund is passed along to rescues to support the
medical care of recently saved shelter dogs, as Pup Profile's admin and operating costs
are managed separately.
Pup Profile is a growing nonprofit the seeks to bring together communities in support of the dogs that need us most. Want to join our team? Connect with us via our website, or on Instagram: @pupprofile. We would love to hear from you!
