"Saving dogs from euthanasia,
one paw at a time."
Our Mission

Our Mission Statement
In 2024, 390,000 dogs were euthanized in the US, and this is the highest number in the past five years. (Shelter Animals Count Database, 2025)
Overall, euthanasia is on the rise, which is why we established Homebound Hounds. We are a California-based dog rescue on a mission to save, foster, and find forever homes for at-risk dogs.
Our core team and volunteers are devoted to preventing unnecessary euthanasia while promoting public awareness of the over-population crisis. We invite you to join our cause, and ideally, one day, we will end capacity-based euthanasia once and for all.
Feature Hound
Calvin
Meet Calvin:
This handsome 2-year-old was saved from the brink of euthanasia at the Downey shelter — and now he’s living his second chance to the fullest.
Calvin is:
- House-trained & crate-trained
- Dog-friendly
- Smart, loving, and eager to please
He’s the perfect mix of playful and chill — he loves a good nap and being part of the family. Calvin has an easygoing nature and has worked on leash reactivity with a trainer. He would benefit from continued training and a family who is patient.
Calvin has graduated with flying colors from a one-month board-and-train program where he finessed his leash manners and is ready for his forever home. Ready to give this pup the life he deserves?
