"Saving dogs from euthanasia,
one paw at a time."

Our Mission Statement

In 2024, 390,000 dogs were euthanized in the US, and this is the highest number in the past five years. (Shelter Animals Count Database, 2025)

Overall, euthanasia is on the rise, which is why we established Homebound Hounds. We are a California-based dog rescue on a mission to save, foster, and find forever homes for at-risk dogs.

Our core team and volunteers are devoted to preventing unnecessary euthanasia while promoting public awareness of the over-population crisis. We invite you to join our cause, and ideally, one day, we will end capacity-based euthanasia once and for all.

Feature Hound

Daisy Jane

Daisy Jane is proof that a second chance can change everything. This sweet girl was just hours away from being euthanized at a high-kill shelter simply because she was shy and overwhelmed by the shelter environment. Thankfully, she was given the chance she deserved and now she's ready to find her forever family.

Affectionate, gentle, and full of quiet curiosity, once Daisy Jane feels safe, she loves giving kisses and soaking up attention from her people. She's discovering that the world isn't such a scary place after all, and every day she grows a little braver.

Daisy is looking for a patient, loving home that will help her continue building confidence and experiencing all the joys life has to offer. She doesn't need perfection just someone willing to celebrate her progress, encourage her when she's unsure, and love her for the wonderful dog she is.

Testimonials

Kelly M

“How do you thank the people that gave you a piece of your heart back? We had to say goodbye to our rescue of 8 years a few months ago. It left a huge hole in my heart and I knew the best way to honor Penny was to provide another rescue with the same love she gave us. Meet Ginger! Thanks to Homebound Hounds - my heart is full again. They not only saved her from being euthanized at the pound, they restored our hearts and home with the kind of pure love only a dog can bring! Working with Ginger's foster mom, they made every step smooth-ensuring it was a good fit all around for us and Ginger. They are genuine people with sincere hearts-working to save lives! My husband and I are so grateful for this giant gift we were blessed to receive."
